BBQ connoisseurs will enjoy tons of great spots serving up delicious smoked meats all across the Beehive State, but sometimes you can find little gems where you least expect them. Here’s a BBQ joint that’s hiding in a strip mall in Layton, but if you love BBQ, you’ll want to track it down.
You'll find Holy Smoke BBQ & Grill in a strip mall in Layton, but don't be too quick to dismiss this little spot - you'll find some seriously tasty BBQ inside. The restaurant's address is 855 N Heritage Park Blvd., Layton, UT 84041.
These folks really love all things country. From the line of saddles that separates the dining area from the ordering line, to the cowboy boots hanging from the ceiling, the decor in this little strip-mall BBQ joint is one-of-a-kind.
The St. Louis pork ribs are the star of the show here. They're coated with a special blend of 11 herbs and spices, then slow-smoked for six full hours. They tender, juicy, and super flavorful.
The BBQ sandwiches are another top-notch option. Choose from pulled pork, pulled chicken, or beef brisket. Each is served with green Jello and your choice of one side dish.
Did we mention the green Jello? A small side of this Utah favorite is served alongside every meal. Why? No idea - but it's a nice little not to Utah's heritage in a place that focuses on St. Louis-style BBQ.
Holy Smoke has a nice array of BBQ sauces, each with a humorous name. Try the "Better Than My Honeymoon" sauce or the "Sweeter Than Your First Kiss" sauce, among others.
