It’s cold here in the Beehive State, but that doesn’t mean that you need to huddle indoors in front of the TV. Bundle up and head to Strawberry Reservoir. There are plenty of ways to play outdoors here all winter long.
Strawberry Reservoir is a popular Utah playground, and anglers are especially enthralled. The reservoir is the Beehive State's most popular place to fish, racking up 1.5 million angling hours per year.
While it's a great place for recreation year-round, it has a special charm during winter months. The landscape is beautiful with a blanket of snow, and many outdoor recreation opportunities await.
The reservoir covers a whopping 17,164 acres, and is up to 200 feet deep in some spots. There's a boat ramp and dock, and if you don't have a boat you can rent one from Strawberry Bay Marina and Lodge.
Once the ice on the lake is frozen solid, ice fishing is the name of the game. There are plenty of monster fish swimming in the dark depths of the lake, and they're ready to bite.
Strawberry Bay Marina and Lodge rents ice-fishing tents that will keep you warm and dry during your day of ice-fishing. The marina also offers an ice-fishing shuttle service that takes you right out onto the ice from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Since the lake sits at an elevation of 7,200 feet, it gets plenty of snow most winters, which makes the area perfect for snowmobiling.
With more than 250 miles of groomed trails in the area, you'll want to spend the entire day zipping through the powder and exploring. Soak in the scenery with views of Mt. Nebo and Mt. Timpanogos.
Don't have your own snowmobile? Rent one from Strawberry Bay Marina & Lodge. It has several different machines for one or two riders. You can also take a guided snowmobile tour for two or three hours.
If one day of ice-fishing and snowmobiling just isn't enough, reserve a room at the lodge so you can do it all again the next day. Whether you need just a full-sized bed, or a suite that include five queen-sized beds, they've got accommodations that will work for you.
What are you waiting for? Grab your warm clothes, boots, gloves, and hat, and head to Strawberry Reservoir this winter!
