When winter arrives in Utah, there is one destination that turns into the ultimate winter playground — Sundance Mountain Resort. Located along the Alpine Loop Scenic Byway, this Utah resort is the place where you can enjoy all of your favorite winter activities including skiing, ziplining, cross-country skiing, and more. It is also where you will find delicious food and the most delightful accommodations. Whether you visit for the day or you stay for an entire week, this winter playground in Utah is going to become your favorite destination during this chilly time of year.
Sundance Mountain Resort was the vision of celebrity Robert Redford. In 1969, he purchased the land where the resort currently sits and had the desire to build a community filled with art, nature, and recreational activities. He certainly accomplished it.
Many individuals escape to Sundance for its slopes. This resort is a paradise for skiers and snowboarders with hundreds of acres to explore and multiple lifts that take you to some of the best powder in Utah.
Sundance also offers a ski and snowboarding school and full equipment rentals. And, for something a little different, you can even experience night skiing.

For a bit of a thrill, you'll want to check out the Sundance Terrain Park, where there are freestyle features for every skill level.
You can also strap on a pair of cross-country skis and explore the Sundance Nordic Center. This area offers up to 15 kilometers of groomed cross-country ski trails that will take you through some stunning winter wonderlands.
This winter zipline tour features double cables where you can soar more than 3,870 feet over the snow-covered mountains. You can control your speed on the ride, allowing you to stop and enjoy the views if you wish. But if you want the rush of speed, you can also cruise up to 65 miles per hour.
There are multiple places to eat around the resort including classy restaurants to fast, casual joints. With so much available, you should never be hungry.
You can also grab a drink at the Owl Bar. This unique bar not only features a selection of unique drinks and delicious food but it is a restored 1890s bar that moved from Thermopolis, Wyoming to Sundance. It was once frequented by Butch Cassidy and is now a must-visit destination at the resort.
Of course, if you want to stay for a few days, there are all types of cozy places to rest and relax. You can book a mountain home, room, or suite at the resort. Nearby, there are also dozens of Airbnbs you can reserve if you want to get away and enjoy a little solitude.
