Hiking is our favorite way to bask in Utah’s natural beauty, and it’s even better when there’s a cool, refreshing lake at the end of the trail. Here’s a hike near Logan that takes you through meadows and forest with plenty of scenic views and even some wildflowers. Check out White Pine Lake Trail:

There are two White Pine Lakes in Utah - this one, which is located in the Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest near Logan, and another lake of the same name up Little Cottonwood Canyon in Salt Lake City.

To reach the trail head, take U.S. 89 from Logan into Logan Canyon. From the ranger station situation in the mouth of the canyon, proceed about 20 miles to the Tony Grove turnoff. Take a left after the turnoff and drive seven miles to the trail head.
This out-and-back trail is considered moderately challenging, with an elevation change of 756 feet over 7.6 miles roundtrip. Make sure to wear some sturdy hiking shoes and bring some sunscreen - the trail has full sun exposure in many spots.

White Pine Lake is gorgeous! The water in this little lake is crystal-clear and cold from the snow melt that comes off Mt. Magog and Mt. Gog, which tower over the lake on both sides. Allow yourself plenty of time to sit and soak in the beauty of this place before heading back down the trail.
