Few things in life are free, but thanks to Salt Lake County Parks & Recreation, a visit to Wheeler Historic Farm won’t cost you a single dime. This pretty park includes a historic home and barn, playground, farm animals, and hiking trails.
In 1884, newlyweds Sariah and Henry Joseph Wheeler purchased a farm from Sariah's mother. For 56 years, the Wheeler family ran Rose Bud Dairy and raised seven children.
When the Wheelers first moved in, there was an old adobe house on the property. Sariah wanted something a bit fancier, so the Victorian farm house was built in 1898.
When Salt Lake County purchased the land in 1969, the intent was to tear down the neglected, dilapidated buildings, but the Junior League of Salt Lake adopted the project of restoring the historic farm. The farm house restoration was completed in the 1970s.
