Utah Lake is one of the Beehive State’s greatest natural resources. This is the third largest freshwater lake west of the Mississippi River and it is an impressive 24 miles long and 12 miles across. While this lake is often overlooked by other bodies of water in the state, there is one festival designed to make sure this lake receives the spotlight it deserves — the Utah Lake Festival.
Typically held the first Saturday in June each year, this festival focuses on the impressive Utah Lake. The main goal of this one-day event is to inform the public of the steps being taken to improve the lake, promote recreational activities, and help Utahns gain a new appreciation for this body of water.
This festival is held at Utah Lake State Park and up to 4,000 people come each year to participate in the many activities. And, with such a long list of things to do, each visitor certainly won't be bored.
One of the most popular activities is the sailboat regatta. There are also sailboat rides and paddleboarding if you want to spend more time on the water.
Throw in a line in the lake and see if you can catch a fish during the festival. There will even be free fishing instruction if you are new to this popular water activity.
You can always just relax by the lake, enjoy the views, listen to live music, and devour delicious food from one of the food trucks at the event as well. This is a wonderful way to spend a summer afternoon.
Kids will love to check out the craft and game stations or see how high they can climb on the rock wall. There are also educational booths that both adults and children will enjoy visiting.
The Utah Lake Festival is one of the best ways to enjoy some time by the lake, learn a little more about this important natural resource, and fall in love with a beautiful wonder in the Beehive State.
This festival will take place on June 3, 2023. You can learn about specific activities, sign up to be a food vendor, and more, on the Utah Lake Commission website. Follow the commission’s Facebook page for additional news and event information.
