Here in Utah, we’re fortunate to have endless cultural experiences to enjoy. From fine dining to fascinating museums, the Beehive State has no shortage of interactive experiences. Yet few can boast the fun and hands-on entertainment promised by the 9th annual Tumbleweeds Film Festival, hosted by the Utah Film Center. Put together for children, this interactive event will prove to be fun for the whole family. From a curated selection of films from around the globe to active play and clubhouse experiences, the festival promises to be nothing short of enriching for all ages. This year’s event will take place on March 6th, 7th, 8th, 13th, 14th, and 15th at The City Library in downtown Salt Lake City.
Tumbleweeds is the longest-running family film festival in the Mountain West region and if you've yet to experience it, you'll want to mark your calendar for this year's event.
More than just a screening of educational and cultural films, Tumbleweeds is an immersive experience where kids and all ages can learn more about the art of filmmaking, screenwriting, critical thinking, and more.
All films will be screening at the Nancy Tessman Auditorium, which can accommodate 300 viewers. At just $7 per ticket, the screenings are an affordable way to experience all kinds of films.
Some of the workshops cover virtual reality, sound effects, claymation, special effects makeup, and much more. Each is 90 minutes long and promises to enrich your movie-viewing experience.
And that's not all! During the weekend, kids are invited to participate in the Clubhouse activities, which are free of charge.
This year, the Clubhouse will feature a family photographer complete with costumes and props, an augmented reality scavenger hunt, optical wizardry, poetry fun, and more.
So whether you have a film buff or a budding artist in your family, you'll leave Tumbleweeds with cherished memories and a newfound appreciation for the art of filmmaking.
