The tiny town of Torrey has fewer than 200 residents, but it’s a vibrant community that welcomes visitors from all over the world. Situated right on the doorstep of Capitol Reef National Park, it’s also a top staycation destination for Utahns.
Welcome to Torrey! This quaint little town was founded in the 1880s, and you'll find it along Utah State Route 24.
Torrey is a quiet, remote community with friendly folks who welcome visitors. It might be small, but this place is a gateway to all kinds of adventures.
Capitol Reef National Park is just eight miles from town. The park offers 241,904 acres of rugged wilderness, with stunning rock formations and a wide, open sky.
You'll definitely want to plan several days to explore the park thoroughly. One great way to immerse yourself here is to take a hiking trip with Wilderness Ridge Trail Llamas. Let the llamas carry your pack so you can enjoy the scenery!
After your hike, make sure to visit the Gifford Homestead, where you'll find fruit orchards, a barn, and the Gifford House.
The Gifford family lived here for 41 years, from 1928 to 1969. Today, the home serves as a shop with handcrafted items and delicious homemade pies. Grab a few and sit in the shade to enjoy them!
When you get back into town, you'll want to pop into Gallery 24, which is located right on Main Street.
The gallery showcases local artists' creations including beautiful paintings, sculptures, photography, pottery, jewelry, and wood crafts.
The Rim Rock Restaurant, with its views of the red-rock cliffs in the distance, is the perfect place for dinner. Dine on the patio and enjoy the fresh, evening air.
