There’s just nothing like an old-fashioned burger, and some Utah restaurants have been serving up these classics for decades. If you’ve somehow missed Hires Big H, it’s time to visit!
Hires Big H got its start when Don Hale, a grocer from Salt Lake City, decided to change careers. His little drive-in restaurant opened in 1959, and the rest is history.
Hires Big H serves up some of the best burgers in the state. In fact, Zagat once picked Hires Big H as one of the best 25 burgers in the entire country!
You'll see what all the fuss is about once you sink your teeth into a Hires Big H. The quarter-pound burger is made with fresh-ground beef chuck that's ground in the restaurant daily. You won't find any frozen beef patties here!
You won't find bags of frozen fries at Hires, either. These fries are hand-cut from whole potatoes every single day. And of course, you can have as much fry sauce as you'd like.
Your meal just isn't complete without one of Hires' root beer floats. Served up in a frosty mug, this float is overflowing with vanilla ice cream and sweet root beer.
You'll find the Midvale restaurant at 835 E. Fort Union, Midvale, UT. The West Valley location (shown here) is 2900 W. 4700 S., West Valley City, UT.
