Step into a candy store, and you’ll immediately be transported right back to your childhood. There’s just nothing like being surrounded by tons and tons of sugary goodness (and knowing that you can buy whatever you want since you’re an adult now!) Here’s a candy company that’s been serving Utahns for more than 100 years, and you’ll want to sink your teeth into the taffy it creates:
James Vernon Glade opened his candy store in Utah back in 1916. The company celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2016!
Glade Candy Co. originally made all kinds of candy, from salt water taffy, to hard candies, to chocolates. In the mid-1990s, the company realized that the salt water taffy was its most popular line, so the family decided to focus on the delicious taffy and changed the company's name to Taffy Town.
Today, Jason Glade is the fourth generation to operate the business, and the factory moved from downtown Salt Lake City to a new location in West Jordan in 2017.
You'll find the new location at 9813 South Prosperity Rd., West Jordan, UT 84081.

The taffy here is a little bit different from taffy that you'll find elsewhere. Instead of hand-pulling, Taffy Town uses a whipping process that integrates meringue right into the taffy.
Throughout the years, Taffy Town has continued to add more and more flavors, including some that are pretty wild. Have you ever tried chicken and waffle-flavored taffy? How about red velvet cake, or maple bacon taffy?
Taffy Town also makes a line of candy called Simply Taffy. This candy is made with real fruit puree and no artificial colors or flavorings. Choose from banana, blueberry, cranberry, raspberry, mango and pumpkin.
You can also visit the retail shop right at the factory! The shop is open Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 5 pm., and Friday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.. Stop in to get some taffy soon!
Visit Taffy Town’s website for more information and to order online. Follow the company’s Facebook page to see all the latest happenings and new flavors.
