Winter months in Utah bring lots of cool events in our mountains. At the Utah Olympic Park in Park City, athletes from all over the world gather to compete in bobsled, skeleton, and all kinds of skiing competitions. At Soldier Hollow, you can watch the U.S. Cross Country Ski Championships, and compete in or watch the biathlon or skijoring competition. What’s skijoring, you ask? Check this out:
Soldier Hollow Nordic Center is a beautiful place to visit during winter months, and its the site of all kinds of cool events. February 21-22, 2020, Soldier Hollow will host the Utah Skijoring competition.
Skijoring is simply the act of skiing while being pulled by an animal. The practice goes back hundreds of years in Scandinavian countries, where people harnessed reindeer and skied behind as a method of transportation. People have also skied behind dogs and horses throughout the years to help them traverse snowy terrain.

Skijoring in Utah means strapping on a pair of skis, grabbing onto a rope that's attached to a horse's saddle, and navigating through a course.
Beginners will participate in the Recreation/Novice Division; experts compete in the Pro/Open Division. As a spectator, you'll witness some incredible talent...
The 2020 Skijoring Utah event wraps up with the Big Air Competition on Saturday afternoon. Talented skiers take on jumps and are judged based on their distance from jump to landing.
Get your tickets online, and plan to dress warmly. Bring chairs and blankets if you'd like to sit while you watch the competition. Food trucks will be on hand for snacks and lunch.
