You certainly won’t be bored in Kanab. After a full day of exploring, you might enjoy a short, easy stroll to a cool cave.
Just north of Kanab, you'll find some cool caves that are well worth exploring. Drive past Best Friends Animal Sanctuary, and look for them on the right.
The trail up to the cave is short, just a quarter mile climb on the sandstone. There are several paths to the cave, but the easiest is the one to your far left. As long as you're wearing shoes that will provide good traction on the sandstone, it's an easy trip.
The walls of the caves are covered in graffiti that has been scratched into the sandstone over the decades. Please refrain from adding your own while you're there. Though these caves aren't ancient dwellings, we still want to practice Leave No Trace Principles.
You can get some stunning photos of these caves if you arrive just one or two hours before sunset. The setting sun fills the caves with light, which makes the sandstone glow a rich, orange color.
