You can reconnect with nature on any one of Utah’s great hiking trails, but when the trail ends at a little waterfall, it’s all the sweeter. This waterfall is well-known if you happen to live nearby – otherwise you may have never heard of it, and it’s just waiting to be explored!
The Rocky Mouth Falls trail head is located in a residential area in Sandy. Park at the Wasatch Trail Head lot near the signs. You'll ascend a railroad-tie staircase to get to the neighborhood above.
The trailhead is located just down the street, right between two homes. Look for the signs and the black wrought-iron fence that creates a narrow trail right between the two properties.
The trail is very short - just under a mile out and back, and it's easy enough for most hikers, as long as you can handle stairs. You'll climb about 280 feet during this hike.
During good water years, the waterfall runs very full; later during the summer it might be much more sparse. The trail can be crowded with locals in the know on weekends, but is generally less crowded on weekday mornings.
