There are so many ways to get out and explore Utah, but one of the easiest ways to bask in nature’s beauty is by strolling through a botanical garden. You won’t have to drive far, and you don’t need your hiking boots – the path to the gardens is paved and accessible. Utah has several beautiful botanical gardens, but there’s one in the foothills of Salt Lake City that’s especially wonderful. Check out Red Butte Gardens:
Red Butte Garden opened its doors in 1985, and it just keeps getting better every year. The property includes 100 acres of developed gardens, hiking trails, buildings for education, and even an outdoor concert venue. It's a spot you'll definitely want to visit several times a year.
There are more than 21 acres of developed gardens here, along with five miles of hiking trails that take you right up the side of the mountain for an eagle's eye view of the city.
The gardens each offer local plants and flowers, and each has a different theme. You'll find a fragrance garden, water conservation garden, herb garden, medicinal garden, children's garden, and more.
Make your way down to the water pavilion garden, where you'll find a peaceful pond, gazebo, and waterfall. You'll definitely want to set aside a few hours to tour the gardens and enjoy all they have to offer.
There are little spots all over the property where you can sit quietly, read a book, chat with a friend, and enjoy the fresh air and natural beauty all around you.
Red Butte Garden's outdoor concerts are legendary, and the perfect way to spend a summer evening. Tickets go on sale every spring, and typically sell out quickly.
Support Red Butte Garden by becoming a member. Not only will you receive admission all year long, but you'll have access to many of the special events and classes at the garden, and you'll get first dibs on the concert tickets when they become available.
