When you’re craving a burger and fries, why head to a chain restaurant when you can enjoy a much higher-quality burger at a local eatery? The Purple Turtle in Pleasant Grove has been a community icon for decades and it’s still thriving.
You can't miss the bright purple roof on The Purple Turtle, a restaurant in Pleasant Grove that's been a community staple since 1968.
The restaurant is located at 85 E. State Rd., Pleasant Grove, UT 84062.
The story of how this place got its start is quirky, but charming. The original owner, Lloyd Ash, kept having dreams about a purple turtle, and felt that it should be a restaurant. He took out a $10,000 business loan, and the rest is history.
The Purple Turtle has been a vibrant part of the community ever since. The second owner started working at the restaurant in high school, and purchased it in 1979. Over the years, hundreds of local high school students have worked here, and many are children and even grandchildren of former employees.
This is the place to go when you're craving a juicy burger, and fries or onion rings. The "pink sauce" is some of the best fry sauce in the Beehive State.
Everything here is fresh and made to order. Be patient - your food might take a few minutes, but this kind of quality is well worth the wait. You'll find more than 10 burgers on the menu, and each is made with a fresh beef patty.
The other well-loved menu item at Purple Turtle is its homemade sherbet. With different flavors every day like strawberry-pineapple, salted caramel with green apple, and huckleberry vanilla, you'll want to pop in often to see the latest confection.
The Purple Turtle is open Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 10:30 p.m.; Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.. Stop in and try a tasty burger or order of fish and chips soon!
Visit The Purple Turtle’s website to see the full menu, and follow its Facebook page to see photos, reviews, and the latest specials. The Purple Turtle is just one of many amazing, family-owned restaurants in Utah. Check out this tiny drive in located in Fillmore!
