When you think of parks, stretches of green grass, playground swings, and shady trees probably come to mind. Pioneer Park in St. George has none of those things, but it’s one of the best parks in the entire state! Pack a picnic lunch, lace up your hiking shoes, and get ready for a day of exploring.
Pioneer Park covers 52 acres in St. George, and it's an outdoor-lover's delight that will change how you think about city parks.
You'll find tons of red rock to climb on and explore. There are rock climbing routes for serious climbers, and spots where you can just scramble up for a better view of the city below.
The views from the top are amazing! From here, you can see the downtown area, White Dome, and Zion National Park. You can even see Arizona from this perch!
"The Crack" is a narrow slot canyon that you can try to squeeze through, then you'll make your way up top to cross this little bridge that spans the gap.
Whether you're exploring by yourself, hiking with your family, or hosting a large gathering of family and friends, the amenities at Pioneer Park have got you covered. The park also has restrooms.
Make sure to bring plenty of water for everyone in your group, as well as sunscreen and clothing to protect you from the sun's rays. Wear some sturdy shoes for hiking and climbing the red rock.
