Many of the towns around Utah were settled by pioneers of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Throughout the years, many of these towns and cities have become quite modern, while others will make you feel like you are living decades ago. Spring City is one small town in Utah where the pioneer influences are still evident everywhere you turn. It’s a charming, quaint, and beautiful place in the Beehive State that you need to visit.
Spring City is located just north of Ephraim in Sanpete County and approximately 1,100 residents call it home.
This small town was founded in 1852 by James Allred and his sons. Just a few years later, more than 50 Danish families came to the area and in 1859, the area was officially named Spring City. Today, it is considered one of the best-preserved examples of a nineteenth-century pioneer village.
All of Spring City is on the National Register of Historic Places. Some of the buildings in this gorgeous small town have been preserved and restored to let us get a glimpse of life decades ago.
The Charles Crawforth Farmhouse, for example, was built in 1884. Crawforth was a coachman in England, and he came to Spring City in 1874. In addition to his two-story home, he had an orchard with approximately 250 trees, a large garden, and peacocks.
One unique historic building in Spring City is the Old Rock Jail, built in 1874. This stone cabin-like building served as the jail from 1874 to 1899. The Marshal lived in a home nearby.

Of course, when you are hungry in Spring City, there is one place you must go — Das Café.
This restaurant is located on Main Street and may not look like much but it serves some of the best German food in the entire state. Das Cafe serves both breakfast and lunch.
