You don’t have to venture high into the mountains to walk around a lake. In fact, located in the heart of Daybreak is Oquirrh Lake, a gorgeous 67-acre freshwater lake that is the perfect place to spend a day. And if you want stunning views, a little exercise, and lots of adventure, there’s Oquirrh Lake Long Loop, a paved loop trail that takes you all around this unique body of water.
Oquirrh Lake is unique in many ways. This is a man-made lake that boasts an unusual shape, resulting in miles of trail to explore.
The lake itself is actually considered private property and you should not get into the water unless you have permission. However, the trails and the park around the lake are free to the public.
One of the best ways to enjoy this lake is on the Oquirrh Lake Long Loop. This is a 3.2-mile loop trail that circles the lake, allowing you to enjoy every mile of this body of water.
If you decide you don’t want to complete the entire trail, there are bridges along the way, creating shortcuts to help you easily shorten your adventure.
While you will capture some gorgeous lake views, keep in mind that this lake is in the middle of Daybreak, so you will see homes, roads, and other signs of the city.
While you can enjoy the Oquirrh Lake Long Loop any time of the day, we suggest visiting during sunrise or sunset. With the lake, distant mountains, and gorgeous Utah sky, it is hard to beat.
Have you ever explored this paved lake trail? What are your favorite paved trails in Utah? We’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments!
If you are searching for a lake trail that will challenge you both physically and mentally, check out the White Pine Lake Trail in Little Cottonwood Canyon. This trail is rocky and quite long but the views are incredible.
