Heber City is a delightful place to visit any time of the year. But, during the holidays, this beautiful town is the place to go in Utah if you wish to experience an old-fashioned Christmas. With an official tree-lighting ceremony, caroling, Santa Claus, twinkling lights, and so much more, Heber City is one Christmas town that will get you into the holiday spirit.
Every December, visitors from all over flock to Heber City to enjoy its holiday festivities. Throughout the entire month, there are activities that allow you to take a step back in time, slow down, and experience an old-fashioned Christmas.
The holiday festivities kick off with Heber City’s tree-lighting ceremony and old-fashioned Christmas event. Held the first weekend in December, you can enjoy the official lighting of the town Christmas tree, participate in some caroling, decorate cookies, and, of course, visit with the big man himself.

This is just the beginning of the activities hosted throughout the month. Leading up to Christmas, there are various performances and concerts in venues around town that will get you in the holiday spirit.
Each year, Heber Valley Railroad offers the North Pole Express, a holiday-themed train ride in Utah. You can hop aboard and go on an adventure, complete with hot chocolate, Christmas cookies, and Santa. This is the only holiday-themed train ride in Utah and tickets sell out early.
Just a short drive outside of town is Jordanelle State Park. Here, you can take a ride on a horse-drawn wagon through thousands of twinkling Christmas lights.
This entire experience at Jordanell State Park is truly magical as you will sit in a wagon that is pulled by a team of Percheron draft horses. Each ride is approximately 20 minutes and is a family-friendly event that begins mid-November and lasts throughout December.
When you are searching for something to get you away from the hustle that the holidays bring, head to Wasatch Mountain State Park.
Approximately five miles outside of town, this state park features more than 16 trails for you to explore via hiking, snowshoeing, or cross-country skiing. This is also a terrific place for snowmobiling.
While there are certainly dozens of holiday attractions and activities hosted in Utah's bigger cities, there’s something special about an old-fashioned Christmas in Heber City. For some holiday magic, you’ll want to check it out for yourself.
