Utahns love ice cream, and we just can’t seem to get enough of it. You’ll find tons of local parlors serving up big batches of cool, creamy, homemade ice cream in the Beehive State, and while some of them focus on traditional treats, others focus on creating new, innovative flavors. For something a little bit different, check out Normal Ice Cream.
Normal Ice Cream was founded by Alexa Norlin, and is operated by a group of enterprising women who come up with some of the most delicious, creative frozen treats you'll ever try.
Or, check out the Lab - a food truck parked just inside the east entrance of Trolley Square. You can get your ice cream fix there Monday through Friday from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m., and on weekends from noon to 10 p.m.
The ice cream here is unlike any you've ever tried. The soft serve comes in flavors like toasted mallow, buttered popcorn, and pina collada. You can also get a few traditional flavors like milk chocolate and strawberry.
The Composed Cones are true works of art, combining unique flavors of ice cream with other ingredients for a confection unlike any other. The menu changes monthly, so you'll want to come back often to try them all.
Normal Ice Cream serves coffee and espresso, and also creates some tasty drinks with its ice cream. Get a root beer float, or try a specialty drink created around this month's new flavors.
Have you tried Normal Ice Cream? What’s your favorite flavor? You can see this month’s menu on the parlor’s Facebook page, and learn more on its website.
