Located in downtown Salt Lake City is the McCune Mansion, a historic mansion that is impressive, gorgeous, and extraordinary. This mansion has become a popular and impressive venue for weddings, conferences, and other special events. However, it has also become a popular place for ghost hunters and those who are seeking a spook. The McCune Mansion is thought to be one of the most haunted places in Utah.
The McCune Mansion is quite an impressive building. The construction of this mansion began in 1898. It took up to $1 million to complete this mansion, which is equivalent to approximately $33 million today.
Even as you walk throughout the house, you’ll find extraordinary touches such as 400-year-old English oak, gorgeous murals, French tapestries, Irish marble, and more.

With all of the beauty and elegance of this building, there’s no wonder it has become a popular and beautiful setting for many special occasions and large events. However, despite being known as an impressive place to visit, it is also known for the spirits that reside inside.
One is the spirit of a young girl who has been seen walking in and out of a mirror hanging on the wall. She has even been captured on camera during weddings and receptions. Some individuals claim that prior to a wedding or reception, items tend to be moved around, which is believed to be the workings of this young girl.
The other spirit is believed to be Mr. Alfred McCune. Some visitors claim to have seen this spirit and stories are told of him flickering lights during a Christmas celebration.
Alfred McCune built this mansion in the late 1890s. He came to Utah from India and made a fortune in both mining and the railroad.
Other visitors report they’ve heard voices when nobody else was around, doors cannot open despite having no lock, they've felt cold spots in rooms, and more.
