Utah has plenty of charming small towns, but people come from all over the world to visit Moab. Recently, the website Big 7 Travel announced the 50 Most Charming Small Towns In America, and Moab made its list.
Located in eastern Utah, this pretty town has a vibrant downtown area, and its backyard is not one, but two National Parks. Check it out:
You'll find the beautiful town of Moab in the eastern part of the state, near the Utah/Colorado border. It's just south of Interstate-70 and the town of Green River, and it's the gateway to all kinds of red-rock recreation.
The town of Moab was founded by Mormon settlers in 1878, and incorporated as a city in 1902. Today, it's home to around 5,300 residents, but it's also well-known around the world for its beautiful scenery.
The friendly folks here can point you to all the best spots around town, from shops and restaurants to outdoor recreation. You can also get maps, find out weather and road information, and view a beautiful, 20-minute film with some stunning 4k footage of the area.
The town's front yard is another national park! Canyonlands National Park is just west of town, boasting a vast, 337,598-acre oasis. Both parks are popular spots for hiking, mountain biking, rock climbing, and other recreation. Combined, they bring around 2.5 million visitors to the area every year.
