We could eat tacos just about every day of the week for the rest of our lives without complaint, and luckily there are tons of great Mexican restaurants all over the Beehive State. One thing’s for sure: if we limited our cuisine to just Mexican food, it would take a long time before we ate at the same restaurant twice!
While we have dozens of restaurants within a 10-mile-radius of home, there’s one that’s a bit farther afield, but well worth a day trip. Have you tried Salt Flats Cafe in Wendover? If not, it might be time to dine on some tasty Mexican food before hitting the casinos and shows on the Nevada side!
Anyone who's ever driven to Wendover knows that it's a loooong drive with not much scenery between Salt Lake City and the Utah/Nevada border. Along the way, you'll pass the Bonneville Salt Flats, then you'll see the neon lights of the Wendover, Nevada casinos.
But before you cross that state line into the land of slot machines, all-you-can-eat buffets, and legal weed, you should definitely stop into Salt Flats Cafe.
It's an absolutely huge plate of food for just $7.95, and it includes a steak enchilada, chile verde burrito, steak tostada, rice, and beans. This is enough food for two people - or someone who's been lost on the salt flats for a week without eating.
Other tasty items on the menu include a bunch of platters including steak fajitas, carne asada, enchiladas with cheese, chicken, or steak, quesadillas, burritos, and more.
No matter what you order, everyone at the table is pretty much guaranteed to be full and happy at the end of the meal. This food makes the slot machines and legal weed seem really overrated.
Make sure to bring some cash with you; it's the only form of payment they accept at this little gem. This is why we recommend that you stop by on your way into the casinos because if your luck is anything like ours, you won't have any cash left when you leave!
