If you spend as much time reading as we do, then you have to restock your bookshelves with new titles often. We could always order books from a huge, online retailer…but why in the world would we do that when we have so many wonderful independent bookstores right here in Utah?
There’s one locally-owned shop that recently got a brand new location, and we could spend hours there, perusing the shelves for new reading material. Check out Marissa’s Books & Gifts:
Not so long ago, this business at the corner of 3300 South and 900 East in Salt Lake City was a bustling, busy Firestone location...
...but now it's a huge, independent bookstore that offers more than 7,000 new and used titles.

Step inside, and you'll be amazed at how this place has transformed! Instead of bays full of cars getting tire rotations, the space is filled with shelves and shelves of books.
The huge bay doors let in tons of natural light, and the large space is broken into smaller, more intimate areas with interesting displays and spots to curl up with a book.
Of course, you're also here to see the books, and there's plenty to choose from. You'll find a nice, large section dedicated just to the Beehive State, with shelves for Utah writers, Utah travel, Utah history, and more.
The children's section is full of books for kids of all ages, from babies to early readers to tweens...

...and no matter how old you are, you'll want to check out the comic book collection.

If you're a big fan of sci-fi, you're going to love this section tucked into a little hallway. It features an alien and a really cool chandelier.

Move on to the vintage book section, which is absolutely stunning. You'll forget that you're in a building that once housed a tire shop - this looks like a reading room at a British estate!
