When you’re choosing a place to dine for the evening, why not go with a family-owned business? Utah has tons to choose from, and if it’s Mexican food you crave, you’ll want to head to Maria’s Mexican Grill in Holladay, where the Vasquez family is ready to serve you some of the tastiest Tex-Mex and Mexican food you’ve ever tried.
Maria's Mexican Grill opened in December of 2017, and it's quickly become a favorite for Mexican food in Salt Lake City.
You'll find this little gem at 3336 S. 2300 E., Salt Lake City, UT 84109.
The dining room is light and bright, with tons of seating, which comes in handy on weekends when this place fills up. The service here is excellent, and even if you have to wait a bit for a table on a Saturday night, it's well worth it.
The mole is one of the house specialities, and it truly shines. This rich sauce is made with sesame seeds, pumpkin seeds, peanuts, cocoa, almonds, and chiles, and it's absolutely divine.
You'll want to watch for the Holy Mole enchiladas special. These tasty enchiladas are stuffed with chicken and jack cheese, then covered with three different mole sauces.
Order a Cantarito to accompany your meal. It's a delicious tequila-based cocktail that hails from Jalisco, Mexico. It's served in a clay pot and includes orange juice, grapefruit juice, and lime juice.
Save room for dessert, because the Maria's has several authentic Mexican treats. We love the sopapillas, but the authentic Mexican flan, pastel de tres leches, and fried ice cream is all tasty too.
