There are multiple swimming holes located all across the Beehive State and each one can keep you cool on those hot summer days. However, our adventure today takes us to a man-made swimming hole, located right in the city of Herriman. Blackridge Reservoir has everything you need to make your summer complete — water, trails, grassy areas, and more. Don’t be surprised when you feel just like a kid on summer vacation during your visit.
Blackridge Reservoir is located on South Ashland Ridge Drive in Herriman. You’ll feel like you are at the beach, rather than tucked away in a neighborhood when at this body of water.
This reservoir is not large, but you won’t mind as there is still plenty to do and see during your visit. Swimming is one of the most popular activities at this Utah reservoir and you can float, splash, or swim all around.
Be aware that Blackridge Reservoir is tested regularly for waterborne pathogens and harmful algal blooms. We recommend visiting the Herriman City website to check for potential closures before arriving.

While you can always spend your day in the water, you can also float on top. Bring a kayak, paddleboard, or even a tube and enjoy your time in the sunshine and fresh air.
You can also sit on the sandy beach and build a sandcastle. However, the sand is quite coarse and water shoes are recommended to make your time on the beach a little more comfortable.
If you want to stretch your legs and explore this man-made swimming hole in Utah even more, how about a walk? A short 0.4-mile loop trail will take you all around the reservoir. This trail is flat and well-maintained, making it a delightful adventure for the entire family.
With so much to do, you will feel like a kid on a summer vacation. Whether you come by yourself or your entire family, this reservoir reminds us of what summer is all about.
Please be respectful when visiting this reservoir as it is tucked away in a neighborhood. We also suggest that you arrive early in the day as it can become quite busy, particularly during the weekend. For more information, you can visit the City of Herriman’s website.
And, if you are looking for a larger reservoir to explore on a hot summer day, check out Deer Creek in Wasatch County!
