If you’re looking for a delicious sandwich in the Beehive State, we have all kinds of recommendations for you. Head to Grove Market, where you’ll find sub sandwiches as big as your head, visit Moochie’s Meatballs for the best meatball and Philly cheesesteak sandwiches, and for authentic deli, of course, you’ll go to Feldman’s.
If you’re looking for one of the most unique sandwiches you’ve ever tried, we’re going to send you to a local waffle house. Yes, really… you need to visit Bruges Waffles & Frites and order the Machine Gun sandwich.
Bruges Waffles & Frites got its start as a humble food truck at the downtown Salt Lake City Farmers Market in 2004. Today, it has three locations and two food trucks, and its waffles are famous.
Address: 2314 Highland Drive, Salt Lake City, UT, 84106
Waffles are not the only item this little restaurant is known for. Its Machine Gun Sandwich was featured on the television show "Man v. Food," and it's the best sausage sandwich in the state.
The Machine Gun sandwich is also known as a mitraillette in Belgium. The word literally translates to "machine gun" in English. This beauty is made with two Morgan Valley merguez sausages placed on a fresh-baked Vosen's bun.
The frites, or fries, are absolutely divine. They have just the right texture and are downright addictive. The Machine Gun is a sandwich and a side of fries all in one!
You can try to eat the Machine Gun with your hands, but we don't recommend it. Grab a fork, and you might manage not to spill this down the front of your shirt.
Of course, you'll want to save room for dessert. The waffles here are to die for, and they're topped with all kinds of tasty things, from ice cream to berries to chocolate.
Have you tried the Machine Gun? Tell us what you thought! Check out the entire menu at Bruges Waffles & Frites’ website, and follow the restaurant’s Facebook page to see what’s happening there.
