There is nothing better than just sitting back and enjoying the view. Utah is home to dozens of overlooks, some of which are extremely popular such as Canyon Overlook in Zion National Park and Dead Horse Point. However, there is one little-known overlook in Utah that is gorgeous and rivals many of the popular viewpoints scattered around the state — Snow Canyon Overlook. This overlook will give you some of the best views of Snow Canyon State Park but it does require a bit of effort to enjoy the breathtaking scenery.
Snow Canyon Overlook is located in the Red Mountain Wilderness in southern Utah. However, to reach this trail, you’ll want to lace up your hiking shoes. You have a 4.9-mile, out-and-back hiking trail to conquer.
This hiking trail in Utah is best for hikers with a little bit of experience. You only have to climb 500 feet but the trail can become quite rocky and sandy. You’ll want to take these portions of the trail slow and walking sticks or other gear may be necessary to help you cross over these challenging terrains safely.
The trail itself doesn’t have many features to help it stand out. You will walk through a desert landscape with trees and shrubs on all sides of the path.
However, it is the overlook at the end of the trail that makes this entire journey worth it. This lesser-known overlook in Utah will let you see for miles and will give you beautiful views of Snow Canyon State Park and the surrounding area.
This trail is available year-round but if exploring during the summer months, make sure you bring plenty of water. This trail can become quite hot and dangerous if you are not prepared.
However, no matter when you visit, the view will certainly take your breath away!
