Summertime is ice cream time! Utahns love ice cream, and we’re lucky to have some great ice cream parlors all over the state. There’s one family-owned ice cream parlor that usually has long lines on the weekend, but it’s well worth the wait.
Leatherby's Family Creamery is a family-owned ice cream parlor that opened in 1984, and it's been a favorite of Utahns ever since. You'll find the original location at 1872 W. 5400 S., Taylorsville, Utah 84118.
Leatherby's ice cream is made in small batches, right in the creamery. They use only fresh, high-quality ingredients, which makes this ice cream taste amazing.
Once it's mixed, the ice cream is cooled down to 15 degrees Fahrenheit and frozen for 24 hours before it's transferred to the 5-degree cooler where it gets to the perfect consistency for serving. Then, it's scooped up in huge portions to create the most incredible ice cream confections you've ever had.
The Daddy Doug's Banana Special is the largest item on the menu. It includes a banana, large scoops of vanilla, chocolate and strawberry ice cream, topped with chocolate, pineapple and strawberry sauce. It's perfect for sharing.
Hungry for more than just ice cream? Leatherby's has a full menu of burgers, sandwiches, and finger foods that are cooked up fresh and tasty for lunch or dinner.
