Utah’s hiking and biking trails are great when you want to get some fresh air, but not all of them are suitable for everyone. Some are steep and rocky, and not accessible to those with small children or mobility challenges. There’s a pretty trail in Layton that’s perfect for everyone – it’s paved, easy to navigate and absolutely beautiful. Take a look at the Kays Creek Parkway Trail:
The Kays Creek Parkway is a pretty, 2.8-mile-long trail in Layton. There are five different spots along the trail for access, but the Adam J. Welker trailhead is the main entry point, and it features a large parking lot with plenty of spaces.
Address: 2700 North. 2125 East. in Layton, UT, 84040
The parkway trail winds through Hobbs Canyon, taking you through a pretty, wooded, 100-acre park. It's the perfect place for a morning or evening stroll.
Most of the trail is shaded, but there are a few spots that are sun-exposed, so if you're hiking in the middle of the day make sure to wear sunscreen and a hat, and bring some water along.
The trail is paved and most of it is suitable for strollers and wheelchairs. The upper part of the trail gets a little more steep and can be a bit of a workout if you're pushing a stroller.
...and you'll often see wildflowers alongside the trail. Kays Creek Parkway is popular with local residents, so you likely won't have this trail to yourself, but it has a wonderful community feel to it.
Hobbs Reservoir is a little gem at the top of the trail. There's no swimming or boating on the reservoir, but you can fish with a permit, or just sit for awhile and enjoy the peaceful surroundings.
In addition to the main Adam J. Welker trailhead, there are four other access points for the Kays Creek Parkway Trail:
Address: 2360 East Canyon View Drive, Layton, UT, 84040
Address: 2459 East 2750 North, Layton, UT, 84040
Address: 2210 Hidden Hollow Drive, Layton, UT, 84040
Address: 1865 East Sunset Drive, Layton, UT, 84040
Check out this map of the trail on the Davis County website. Have you strolled along this pretty parkway trail?
