Highland, Utah is a town tucked in the upper benches of the South Wasatch Range in Utah Valley. It is home to approximately 15,000 people and a handful of activities and attractions. But, one of our favorite things about this Utah town is a summer festival — the Highland Fling. This popular summer festival in Utah Valley is six days long and has something for every member of the family — a car show, rodeo, vendors, tournaments, fireworks, and more. Highland Fling is one Utah festival where there’s never any time to be bored.
Mark your calendars for Monday, July 31 to Saturday, August 5, 2023, to attend the highly anticipated Highland Fling Festival. The theme is “Our Slice of Paradise” and this six-day event in Utah Valley truly will feel like paradise with all that there is to see and do.
The yearly event kicks off with my personal favorite thing — food! On Monday, you can take part (or simply view) the pie baking contest, pie eating contest, Dutch oven cook-off, Dutch oven dinner, pie auction fundraiser, and a Dutch oven class.
Throughout the event, there will be other food-related activities like a food donation for those in need, vendors, a food court, and more.

Each day through the week, you'll find a variety of activities to enjoy. On Tuesday you can participate in everything from service projects to walking around the car show.
Wednesday and Thursday include activities like a horseshoe tournament, backyard garden tours, and an afternoon of water games and being hosed down by Highland firefighters.
Friday is a great day to let out your competitive side at the disc golf tournament, Strong Man competition, fine art show, glow run, and even a youth talent show. There’s also a Play Day Rodeo that you won't want to miss.
Plan to spend your entire Saturday at the Highland Fling Festival. The day starts with a parade and also includes unique activities like a tractor display, historical museum tours, Daughters of the Pioneers cabin tour, and a concert.
Of course, the entire festival ends with fireworks. It’s the perfect way to end a week full of excitement.
