Visiting small towns in Utah is one of my favorite things to do, especially during the summer months. These towns are typically where you can find some of the best hidden gems from places to eat to unique vacation rentals. While there are many friendly small towns in Utah that are perfect for a summer escape, one that is often overlooked is the town of Mantua. While you can easily spend a few days here, a summer day trip in Mantua is unforgettable and an adventure we would recommend this year.
Mantua is a small town that is located on the edge of Box Elder County, east of Brigham City, and just a few miles up Sardine Canyon.
This town is certainly small with fewer than 700 residents. But, if you love to spend your summer outdoors, this is the ultimate small town in Utah to visit.
The big draw to this northern Utah town is Mantua Reservoir. This beautiful body of water is perfect for some time outdoors. Here, you can fish, swim, or even boat.
This hike is just over four miles but it is easy in difficulty and circles the entire reservoir. Plus, this trail is wide and perfect for bicycles and even bike trailers.
After some time at the reservoir, you can always head into town and spend some time at Mantua Park, a beautiful city park with lots of green grass, trees, a playground, and a bowery.
This restaurant is where you can find all types of incredible dishes from massive burgers to desserts that will make your taste buds dance with excitement.
If you find you want to spend even more time in the town of Mantua, consider camping in one of the campgrounds in the area.
There are a handful of campgrounds near Mantua Reservoir and just outside of town, making it easy to find the perfect camping spot to turn your day trip into an overnight adventure.
