Have you seen the 1994 movie Forrest Gump? If so, you may have noticed that one famous spot in Utah is featured in the movie. If you visit that same spot today, you’ll find a sign marking Forrest Gump Hill. You can take a selfie on the very spot where actor Tom Hanks stood, and enjoy the same incredible view.
Movie Buffs traveling through the Four Corners area near Mexican Hat love to stop at a famous viewpoint. It's featured in the movie Forrest Gump. In the movie, Forrest is sitting on his front porch in Greenbow, Alabama, nursing a broken heart, when he decides to go for a run.
Forrest starts running, and keeps going for 3 years, 2 months, 14 days, and 16 hours. He runs all the way to the Santa Monica Pier, then back across the country to the Marshall Point Lighthouse in Maine. He runs up a mountain in North Carolina, and past fields of cows. He finally runs through downtown Flagstaff...
...and ends up here, at the top of the hill along Route 163 on the Utah/Arizona border. You'll recognize the famous group of sandstone bluffs of Monument Valley.
Forrest Gump fans love to recreate this scene in various ways. If you're willing to hang out for awhile and wait for traffic to clear, you can capture some pretty fun shots.
Whether you visit because you're a big fan of the movie, or because this landscape is too beautiful to miss, you'll want to check it out. Don't forget your camera!
