Do you remember playing video games back in the 1980s? Pac Man and Donkey Kong ruled the arcade, and movies like Tron, Bladerunner, and E.T. stoked our imaginations and those of the video game creators, who promptly offered us the chance to play games based on the movies.
There’s an arcade soda bar right here in Utah that’s full of retro video games and pinball machines, and you’ll feel like you’re right back in the 1980s the moment you walk in the door.
For a day of fun from the 1980s, head to Flynn's Retrocade. It's located in Roy, and it's open Monday through Saturday from noon to 10 p.m..
Show your kids your old favorites, like Donkey Kong, Frogger, and Mario Bros. All the machines are set to "free play," and you'll pay $7 an hour, or just $12 for all day.
Remember the awesome games like Star Wars Cockpit that you could climb inside, sit down, and use the controls? Your kids will love them just as much as you did.
When all that video gaming makes you thirsty, head to the soda bar. The specialty drinks include Tetris, made with Coke, pineapple, and coconut & cream flavorings, and Tron, made with blue Curacao and passion fruit flavorings.
Other drinks start with Dr. Pepper, Sprite, Minute Maid Lemonade, Fanta Orange, and Mug Root beer as the base. Flavorings include vanilla, caramel, green apple, blue raspberry, grape, blood orange, and more.
Check out the Flynn’s Retrocade website for a list of all the games you can play there, and follow the arcade’s Facebook page to see all the events happening there.
