Utah’s natural diversity exceeds rugged terrains, dunes, and pine forests thriving in mountain valleys. There are also noteworthy natural pools, specifically Fifth Water Hot Springs, that impress with hot pools for your soaking pleasure. To get there, you’d have to take a moderate 2.5-mile trail that runs along a river.
The trailhead, which is well-signed and easy to spot, is located at the Three Forks Trailhead in Diamond Fork Canyon. The trail has a steady incline, making it easy to bask in the beautiful landscape of pine trees, bright flowers, and gentle riverside.
About halfway to the falls, you’re likely to get the occasional whiff of sulfur, indicating the presence of the natural hot spring that rests majestically in a beautiful forested setting. The water also transforms into cobalt blue as you approach the hot spring.
Upon arrival, you’ll be greeted by a series of small, closely bound natural pools, ranging from deep blue, and translucent green to a milky blue. It’s nothing short of a unique, polychromatic artwork, enough to stop you in your tracks for a few minutes.
Each pool has a different temperature, so make sure to move around until you find one that feels comfortable. The tubs farthest from the waterfall are the coolest, the ones close to the waterfall, where the water plummets, are the hottest.
While the pools are clean and well-maintained, they understandably have a slight stench of sulfur. If you don’t mind the smell, you will have a great time unwinding in the water, right after you’ve sampled the temperatures, of course.
The water is so refreshing that most people spend several hours relaxing in the pool until the sun falls steadily behind the canyon cliffs. The only downside to visiting Fifth Water Hot Springs is that while it’s illegal, you may encounter someone soaking in the nude.
Fifth Water Hot Springs is incredible, to say the least. Where else would you find natural hot springs with varying temperatures in a picturesque setting?
