Utah is more known for its odd liquor laws than it is for its breweries and distilleries, but little by little, the Beehive State is starting to see some local businesses creating beer, wine, and hard liquor. Here’s a local distillery that’s fairy new, but it’s already winning awards for its unique vodka, gin, and run. Take a look at Dented Brick Distillery:
Dented Brick Distillery opened its doors in 2016, and it's been garnering awards ever since.
The distillery is located at 3100 S. Washington St., South Salt Lake, UT 84115.
The spirits offered at this distillery are all made from scratch right here. From start to finish, the products are carefully overseen by a master distiller.
Products include premium Antelope Island Rum and Roofraiser Vodka, Great Basin Bristlecone Gin, Hugh Moon White Whiskey, Jan Stephenson flavored rums, and premium craft well vodka, gin, and rum.

The spirits here are all made using Utah-grown grains and artesian well water. That's right — the distillery has its very own well. If you want great liquor, it starts with the very best water.
This whiskey is named after Hugh Moon, a Mormon who originally owned the land where Dented Brick Distillery sits today. Mr. Moon is the first recorded distiller in the state of Utah. With permission from Brigham Young, he created liquor using the water from his artesian well, and grain he grew right on the property. This white whiskey recently received a gold medal at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition.
Want to try these spirits for yourself? Schedule a tour and tasting. The cost is just $10, and it's money well spent.
The tour includes a look at everything from the artesian well to the huge copper pot still and other equipment, along with a tasting of vodka, rum, gin, and whiskey.
Tours with tastings are offered Monday through Friday at 11 a.m., 1 p.m., 3 p.m., and 5 p.m. Tastings only are offered on the same days at noon, 2 p.m. and 4 p.m., and they cost just $5. No matter which experience you choose, you'll take home a commemorative coaster and shot glass.
You'll find all of Dented Brick Distillery's products at Utah State Liquor Stores, or you can stop by the distillery to purchase it there.
