St. George is a delightful getaway destination and the perfect place for a staycation. In this southern Utah city, you will find something for everyone from history and hikes to shopping and delicious places to eat. St. George also boasts incredible city parks, perfect for some time outdoors. Thunder Junction All Abilities Park is one of the more popular parks in the area and is a place we recommend for families of all ages. You also can’t forget about the delightful Pioneer Park. But, there is one city park that is often overlooked but it provides plenty of adventure. It is Historic Town Square.
Tucked away in St. George’s downtown historic district is Town Square. This area has something for the entire family, making it a wonderful place for an afternoon adventure.
When you first arrive, you will notice the historic buildings surrounding the park and the fields of green space. This is the perfect destination for a picnic lunch, to lay outside with a good book, or to sit and enjoy the sunshine.
But this park has more to offer than benches and green space. You will find several water features including a large splash pad where the young and young at heart can cool off on a hot southern Utah day.
You may want to bring a picnic lunch and sit at one of the shaded tables as well. It’s a great way to relax in between all of your adventures.
If you plan your visit just right, Historic Town Square is also the location for many city events and festivals and is even a Wi-Fi hotspot if you want to catch up on some work while the children run around and play.
All year long, you will find something to love about this park. Historic Town Square is the definition of an underrated adventure in the middle of the city.
