When you want to cool off and enjoy the summer heat, there is no better way than spending the day at a lake. Tibble Fork Reservoir is one of the lesser-known lakes in Utah. However, once you know about this reservoir, you won’t want to leave. This body of water is in the most beautiful setting, offers several outdoor activities, and the water is cool and crisp. Tibble Fork Reservoir is the perfect summer day trip destination in Utah.
You will find Tibble Fork Reservoir in American Fork Canyon. It is one of the freshwater lakes in the area.
To reach Tibble Fork Reservoir, you will take the Alpine-Highland exit. Follow Highway 92 until you reach North Fork Junction in American Fork Canyon. Turn left and follow the road past Silver Lake Flat. Be aware that in the winter, the road to this reservoir is closed and there is a small vehicle fee to drive up the canyon.
This lake is in the most picturesque setting. Tibble Fork Reservoir is nestled in the Wasatch Mountains and you’ll enjoy remarkable mountain and forest views from all angles during your visit.
This entire area is perfect for spending time near (and on!) the water. There is a small beach where you can relax, enjoy the fresh mountain air, and receive a little sun.
And, if you don’t want to spend all of your time near or on the water, explore the trails. The Tibble Fork Loop Trail is a 4.6-mile trail that takes you above the reservoir and through scenery that is breathtaking.
While this trail is certainly gorgeous, it is difficult. The first part of this trail is quite steep and there are areas with little shade. However, the scenic views make the journey well worth it.
While you can always make Tibble Fork Reservoir the perfect day trip destination, spend an entire weekend (or even a week!) near this body of water. There are several campgrounds in the area including Granite Flat Campground, which is less than one mile from Tibble Fork Reservoir.
This campground is nestled in the trees and offers multiple campsite options that range from single sites to large group sites. There is a picnic day-use area in this campground as well. You can learn more about Granite Flat Campground on the Forest Service website.
With incredible views, plenty to do, and options to stay overnight, make sure a visit to Tibble Fork Reservoir in Utah is on your summer bucket list.
Have you ever been to Tibble Fork Reservoir? Did you hop in the cold and crisp water? Did you spend the night? We’d love to hear all about your experience(s) in the comments!
On your way to Tibble Fork Reservoir, you will pass by Timpanogos Cave National Monument. This is another Utah destination that must be on your summer bucket list. In fact, this remarkable cave has been attracting visitors for more than 100 years!
