If you’re looking for a fun, inexpensive activity that’s perfect no matter what the weather is like, head to downtown Salt Lake City to visit Clark Planetarium. It’s full of cool, interactive exhibits that help you learn more about our planet, our solar system, and beyond. The best part? The exhibits are free!
Get a glimpse of outer space right here in Salt Lake City when you visit Clark Planetarium. It offers over 10,000 square feet of exhibits, plus a huge dome theater and an IMAX theater, too.
The planetarium is open seven days a week, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
The exhibits cover three levels at the planetarium, and each has a theme: Earth, Near Earth, and Beyond. Start on the first floor by learning more about the planet where you live.
"Earth" exhibits include the popular Foucault pendulum, a huge meteorite collection, and all kinds of weather-related exhibits such as the tornado tunnel. You'll also learn about Earth's moon, and see one of the largest moon rocks on public display.

On the second floor, you'll find the "Near Earth" exhibits, which teach you about space beyond Earth's atmosphere.
There's a whole lot going on in outer space! See exhibits that help you experience what weather in space is like, and learn about solar flares. Don't miss the Planeterrella Exhibit, which is one of just two such exhibits in the world.

Head up to the third floor to see exhibits about our solar system and universe.
Step inside one of the most popular exhibits at the planetarium. Io is Jupiter's closest moon, and you'll feel as though you're standing on it, looking out at its planet. You can program and drive a rover on Io while you're there.
Go on a space mission, build a rocket, and check out the Infra-Red exhibit.
You'll enjoy all the free exhibits, but you might also want to consider one of the IMAX or laser shows, or check out a show in the Hansen Dome Theater.
This isn't just any gift shop - it's full of fun, interactive, science-themed gifts.
If you haven’t visited Clark Planetarium lately, it’s time to stop by! Visit the planetarium’s website to get your free tickets to the exhibits and purchase tickets to the IMAX or laser shows. You’ll also want to follow the planetarium’s Facebook page, which features updates from NASA, fun do-at-home projects, and the latest information from the world of astronomy.
