As local travel experts, we know what travelers are looking for when it comes to finding the perfect accommodations for their next trip. To compile our lists, we scour the internet to find properties with excellent ratings and reviews, desirable amenities, nearby attractions, and that something special that makes a destination worthy of traveling for.
The tiny towns in Southern Utah are some of the best places in the Beehive State. You’ll enjoy the sweeping vistas that draw visitors to our national parks, but you’ll typically avoid the crowds.
The little town of Blanding has fewer than 4,000 residents, and it’s the perfect place to escape the tourists. You’ll want to check out the Blue Sage Inn while you’re down there; it was recently renovated, and it’s a hidden gem with comfortable, affordable rooms.
You'll find Blanding down in the Four Corners area, in the southeastern part of Utah. The area is full of recreation opportunities, including hiking, mountain biking, and stargazing.
Blanding is the perfect home base when exploring Bears Ears National Monument, Hovenweep National Monument, and Natural Bridges National Monument. It's also just an hour from the Four Corners Monument.
Blue Sage Inn was built in 1954. The architect who designed the inn was trained by Frank Lloyd Wright, and you can see Wright's influence in some of the building's features.
The inn offers rooms with two double beds, two queen-sized beds, and king suites. Some of the rooms are pet-friendly, so you can even bring your pup along!
Rooms also feature small refrigerators, microwaves, and coffee makers.
Your newly-remodeled room is a pleasant place to hang out, but you'll also want to get out and have some adventures. The staff can point you to the many recreation spots near town, where you can play, relax, and explore.
After a long day of hiking and sight-seeing, enjoy the covered patio area and fire pit. Evenings in Blanding are absolutely beautiful, and the skies are dark enough here to see millions of stars in the heavens above.
