There are some incredible overlooks and viewpoints in Utah. Some of these you can access via a car while others you may need to put forth a little more effort. We have found a trail that is going to provide you with some of the most extraordinary views in Utah — Cascade Mountain to Provo Peak via Upper Pole Couloir Trail. This hike is gorgeous but it is also one of the hardest trails in Utah. It is a hike that is not for the faint of heart and beginner hikers should stay away.
If you are an expert hiker and searching for a bit of a challenge, check out the Cascade Mountain to Provo Peak via Upper Pole Couloir Trail. Located in the Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest and not far from Orem, this loop trail is unforgettable.
You will want to plan for an all-day hike to complete this loop trail and you may even consider backpacking to give yourself plenty of time to rest. This trail is going to challenge you both physically and mentally.
You will want to come fully prepared for this hike with lots of water and sun protection as you’ll encounter very little shade. The trail also requires class 3-4 rock scrambling, adding quite a bit of danger and excitement to the hike.
Also, because the trail is so difficult, it’s not as well trafficked as others in the state, so make sure to download a trail map before you go and prepare for a little bushwhacking.
Summer and early fall are the best times to tackle this trail. During the summer, you will likely see gorgeous wildflowers along your way, and in the fall, the vibrant foliage will leave you speechless.
