For decades, Utahns spent their summer days at the amazing Seven Peaks Water Park in Salt Lake City. It was originally called Raging Waters, then it was purchased by Seven Peaks and went by that name. At the end of the summer in 2018, the park closed its doors for good, and it now sits abandoned.

If you remember Seven Peaks Utah, you’ll be brokenhearted to see what it looks like now. A once thriving center of life and fun is now just an abandoned water park in Utah.

Editor’s note: This abandoned park is very dangerous and it’s illegal to enter. Local authorities have had issues with teens and young adults trespassing here. Stay out! As of 2021, there were plans to tear down the abandoned park.

Without the water, the tools of this park look particularly bleak, just empty concrete, metal, and plastic structures devoid of purpose without people to entertain.

From a distance or from above you might think the waterpark is a construction site it looks so dreary. A far cry from the summertime haven it used to be.

The broken equipment is just one of many reasons you shouldn't trespass into abandoned places. There's been no oversight during the years of decay on this property, and anything could slip and fall at any time.
This waterpark really did have something for everyone, from small slides and soaking pools to large, heart-stopping slides and spots for families to picnic.

It was one of the most beloved summertime spots in the Salt Lake City area, catering to families of all sizes and kinds.
That's all gone now. When Seven Peaks decided to get out of the waterpark business, it sold this park to a company called Blue Island.

The company planned to restore this place to its former glory, but so far, they've done nothing...

...except let the weeds grow. In August of 2019, Blue Island told ABC4 news that it might be able to reopen in 2021.

Sometimes that's the way with business deals like this one, the cashflow doesn't materialize and the grand designs are left stagnant, like any remaining water in this park.
Until then, a security company hired by Salt Lake City tries to keep trespassers out.

But it's a difficult job. The appeal of an abandoned place, especially one as interesting as a waterpark, is strong.
The park is dangerous, and no place for teens or kids to hang out. In addition to the fact that the broken-down fixtures can cause injuries, this abandoned spot is a haven for crime. If you want to see what it looks like now, you can safely enjoy this drone footage taken in May 2020.

Local publications noted the demolition of the park in 2021 and plans to revitalize it into an urban park space in 2022. The park space would have everything from kayak rentals to use on the Jordan River and festival space for community events to volleyball and pickleball courts and a beach area for sunbathing and sandcastles. The urban park in UT is slated to open in 2024. Fingers crossed that the project comes through, it would be wonderful to see this property revitalized into another family-friendly and fun-driven experience, just like it was as Seven Peaks Waterpark in Salt Lake City.
