Utah has its share of ghost towns. In fact, we created an entire road trip to more easily visit some of these unique and spooky towns in the state. But approximately 15 miles outside of Milford, Utah, is one abandoned town that could be considered one of the eeriest places in Utah …. or America! Frisco, Utah, was once a bustling mining town but today, is an abandoned ghost town that may just send chills down your spine if you plan a visit.
You’ll find Frisco out in the desert in Beaver County. Just 15 minutes outside of the small town of Milford, Frisco was established in 1875 and was named after the San Francisco Mountains.
Gold, silver, zinc, and copper were all mined in the Horn Silver Mine and by 1885, more than $60 million had been made. Many people came to work in the mine as serious money could be made here.

While Frisco was a mining town, it certainly did not have a great reputation. This town was full of more than 20 saloons, multiple gambling halls, and murders occurred daily. In fact, it gained the reputation of being the wildest town in the Wild West.
In 1885, the mine suffered minor cave-ins, causing it to close for nearly a year. Unfortunately, when the mine reopened, production greatly declined, causing many people to leave town and find more profitable places to live. By 1912, only 150 people remained in the town of Frisco, and in the 1920s, the town was abandoned.
The charcoal kilns are one of the most notable structures left in the town and were used to extract metals from the ore. Today, they are listed on the National Register of Historic Places and are quite interesting to check out.
People report feeling like someone is always watching them, regardless of where they may be standing. There are also many reports of people seeing and feeling spirits throughout the town. But, with a history such as Frisco and all of the deaths that occurred there, it’s not too surprising.
