Hawaii Volcanoes National Park is located about 45 miles south of Hilo on the island of Hawaii. The park offers over 333,000 acres of lush landscape to explore and more than 150 miles of hiking trails. It’s also home to two volcanoes, including the legendary Kilauea volcano. Yes, that Kilauea.
Kilauea is one of the most active volcanoes in the world and caused widespread destruction when it erupted in 2018. However, the park has now reopened to the public and is once again a safe and beautiful place to marvel at the primal forces of nature. Especially since Kilauea continues to produce 250,000 to 650,000 cubic yards of lava per day.
