In India, the Holi Festival celebrates the coming of spring and a new season of rebirth. The tradition dates back thousands of years, initially celebrated with the throwing of colorful flowers. Currently, it is celebrated across the world, with the biggest U.S. festival occurring in the tiny town of Spanish Fork, Utah on March 24 and 25, 2018. Although its setting is at the Krishna Temple there, anyone is welcome to participate. Festival-goers come for a huge zen-like party, complete with peace, happiness, music, food, dance, yoga, and of course, lots of throwing of colors!

The festival here is considered the largest in the U.S., if not the world.

The temple is located at 311 W. 8500 South in Spanish Fork. The town is located about an hour south of Salt Lake City.
$6 entry fee gets you in for both days of the festival.

Hours are 10:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. on Saturday and from 11:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M. on Sunday.
Most attendees wear white shirts and bring bandanas and sunglasses to protect their eyes during the feisty throwing events.

Only Krishna Colors (dry powders) are allowed to be thrown. They are readily available for sale ahead of time or at the venue itself. The formal throwing of colors occurs every two hours, although you can impromptu dowse your friend at any time!
