The main island is connected to the east island by a steel bridge gifted by Andrew Carnegie. Current owners purchased the island in the mid-1990s, built five additional cabins on it, and established the resort in operation today.
The small island was purchased by its namesake Frank Stout in 1887.

It was originally co-owned, but Stoute became a sole owner with a $14,000 purchase of the land in 1903.
The lodge and surrounding cabins are a true retreat that is open to guests between May and October.

Clear waters, woods, and beautiful surroundings make it the perfect place to escape. The lake has pan fish, walleye, Northern, and Bass and is 45 feet deep in some locations. Fishing is good off the boathouse as well.
The boat house has a rustic upper deck area for enhanced viewing.

The island itself, along with the east island which is accessible by a walking bridge, encompasses 18 acres. The island is located on the 1,800-acre Red Cedar Lake in Barron County, Wisconsin. If you’re a guest, you’ll meet up with friendly staff at 2799 27th St. in Birchwood, Wisconsin. There’s a parking lot there and a path leading to a waiting area and dock, where the ferry will pick you up as scheduled to begin your island adventure. Talk about private!
