If there’s one thing America does really well, it’s convenience stores. We have some of the biggest food shops in the world and this massive convenience store in Philadelphia is the newest addition to the country’s megastore pantheon.
The world’s biggest Wawa opened in Philadelphia in December and it’s one for the record books. This huge convenience store is located in Center City just moments away from the Liberty Bell. The store opening was such a big deal that Mayor Jim Kenney was in attendance and a special parade was held.
So just how big is this monstrous new shop? The store takes up nearly half a city block and features 11,500 square feet of floor space. It has its very own bakery and a huge number of drinks on tap, including kombucha and cold brew coffee. The store also offers eight reserve coffees.
However, perhaps the coolest thing about this new shop is its focus on design. Potted plants are everywhere and there’s even an entire wall covered with living greenery. The store also is studded with copper fixtures and boasts a beautiful vaulted ceiling. You can also expect fast, free WiFi.
It may be a convenience store, but this giant Wawa is one of the coolest new shopping destinations in America.
