With its epic peaks, a massive expanse of alpine forests, and crystal-clear lakes, Grand Teton National Park is one that belongs on every adventurer’s bucket list. Yet wondering how to tackle this park in just one visit can be something of a challenge. Fortunately, we’ve crafted the perfect itinerary for a brief yet memorable visit to this corner of Wyoming. Ready to get the adventure started?
1. Plan ahead of time, but leave some free time to improvise!
The single most important thing to do is devise a plan for your visit. You might want to consider visiting Jackson Hole during the offseason when it's not quite as crowded. Keep in mind that many of the access roads will be closed. Most importantly, though, be sure to leave some time to explore and wander. You never know what beautiful overviews and pull-offs are waiting to be enjoyed!
Hidden Falls is a breathtaking and slightly off-the-beaten-path destination for parkgoers. The hike to falls is just over five miles round trip, but you can opt to take the shuttle boat if you're really pressed for time. Standing near the base of the falls, you'll feel the splashes of glacier-cold water on your face.
You've most likely heard of the famous Jenny Lake, which many consider the crown jewel of Grand Teton National Park. This attraction is notoriously crowded, so you'll want to opt for a different vantage point. Continue past Hidden Falls and hike up to Inspiration Point. You'll enjoy a breathtaking view of the lake as well as the surrounding 360-degree view of the park.
Grand Teton National Park has endless hiking trails. These treks through the mountains and around the lake are hands-down the best way to experience the park. String Lake Trail is just one of many that provide gorgeous water and mountain views.
