These spots offer so much in the way of history, architecture, and culture. Don’t miss outdoor garden restaurant Rhythm + Vine in Fort Lauderdale or Button & Co. Bagels in Asheville. During the summer, New Orleans has an average of one festival every three days, so you won’t be lacking in entertainment there. And, of course, you can’t go wrong with a concert at the Musicians Corner in Nashville.

Scottsdale is an emerging cultural hotspot and home of the trendy new eatery Agave del Scottsdale. You can also catch a hot air balloon ride there with Rainbow Ryders. Further west, the university town of Berkeley delights with plenty of dazzling shopping boutiques and gorgeous hillside path walks. Head north to Portland for laid-back vacation vibes and a great cup of Brazilian coffee at Nossa Familia.

Head south from New York City to check out Asbury Park. It’s home to the Stone Pony, a legendary music venue and a great place to check out new acts. Asbury Park also has a cool boardwalk where you can shop and eat to your heart’s desire. Next, head on up to Buffalo and feast on the Buffalo Wing Trail before checking out Elevator Alley, an outdoor amusement area built out of repurposed grain silos.
Though we only featured the nine cities in the continental U.S. in this article, the 10th location on SmarterTravel’s 2019 bucket list is San Juan, Puerto Rico. As a U.S. territory, travelers do not need passports for this tropical island getaway, which makes it an attractive destination for those willing to travel a bit further from home.
Of course, there are plenty of incredible places to travel and see in the U.S. What’s your 2019 bucket list city?
