We’ve all seen towering green Christmas trees. But have you ever spied a Christmas tree that’s as tall as a building and entirely made of…sand?
This utterly unique celebration in West Palm Beach, Florida is the ultimate blend of beachy fun and holiday spirit. Keep scrolling to find out more.
The holiday season in West Palm Beach kicks off with the city’s annual tree lighting. However, this is no ordinary tree. "Sandi" is a massive, 700-ton tree made completely of sand. Sandi is decorated with thousands of lights and is one of the most mesmerizing sights for miles around.
This colossal sand tree is 35 feet tall and is the only one of her kind in the world. After the tree lighting on Nov. 29, the city puts on a nightly light and story show with a variety of holiday-themed characters. The story of Sandi unfolds a little bit more each night, and the event is a big draw for both visitors and local families.
It’s free to visit Sandi and you’ll want to stay for much longer than it takes to snap a few photos. Visitors can play a glowing nine-hole mini golf course on the West Palm Beach Waterfront, dance to a DJ, and create their own life-sized tropical snowman or snow lady with fun mix-and-match pieces.
